Feminism isn't enough – it is time for matriarchy
Aug 10, 2026I’ve come to realise that feminism isn’t good enough. It was an absolutely necessary movement that helped us gain basic rights and legal recognition. But feminism keeps us playing by patriarchal rules.
Trying to fit into the male narrative
We were begging for a seat at a table and into a structure that wasn’t built for us. And we were only allowed in if we adapted - if we bent ourselves into a pretzel to fit the male narrative. Trying to be like them when we are something completely different, all while being expected to carry the invisible workload of motherhood, act as the family’s project manager, and completely ignore our cyclical nature.
No wonder it has left so many women burned out.
The patriarchy is built by men for men, based on hierarchy, ego, capitalism, and is only beneficial for the few at the top. And its biggest defect is perhaps its incapability of honouring the very source of life. It treats both human mothers and Mother Earth as resources existing for them - with no regard for consequences or long term thinking.
Returning to nature - and matriarchy
Mother Earth is being drained of her natural resources and destroyed by war, with zero thought for tomorrow. And human mothers are pushed to the very limit, leading more and more women to choose not to become mothers at all.
To me, matriarchy is a return to natural order, and the only sustainable way forward. A matriarchal mindset places mothers, children, and mother nature at the center. Resources are shared according to need, and no one is hoarding out of ego. Mothers are held and protected by the collective, not left to struggle alone. The old saying “it takes a village” isn’t just a nice saying - it’s matriarchy in the making.
It’s time to stop trying to fit into a world built on ego and exploitation, and start building the one that can actually flourish, for generations to come.
